How do I chat 1:1 with a character?
Last updated: July 21, 2026
Tap the "1:1 Chat" button on an Episode's description screen, or start right from the Chat tab at the bottom of the app. Soul chat lets you have a 1:1 messenger conversation with a Soul outside of Episodes.
Entry points
| Entry point | Description |
|---|---|
| Chat tab | From the Chat tab at the bottom of the app, see your list of Souls you're chatting with (last message, chat time, unread messages) and jump in |
| Episode description screen | Check out the characters, then tap the "1:1 Chat" button |
You can start a chat even if you've never played the Episode. Just note that the "1:1 Chat" button only appears for characters that support Soul chat.
How to use it
It works like a messenger app where you talk 1:1 with a character.
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Sending messages | Type text to send the Soul a message |
| Sending photos | Beyond text, you can send photos too, and the Soul recognizes the images you send and works them into the conversation |
| Read receipts | When the Soul reads your message, the 1 marker disappears |
| Date dividers | Your conversation is grouped by date |

How the character sees me
In "How the character sees me", you can check what kind of person the Soul thinks your protagonist is — and fine-tune it yourself if you'd like. Writing down things you want reflected in the conversation, like personality, way of speaking, and your relationship with the Soul, helps the Soul understand you.
FAQ
Q. I don't see the "1:1 Chat" button.
The button only appears for characters that have a Soul connected. For now, chat is rolling out gradually, starting with select Souls.
Q. Can I leave a chat or delete the conversation history?
There's only one chat per Soul, and leaving a chat or deleting conversation history isn't supported.
Q. What happens to the conversation if a Soul goes private or is deleted?
You can still view past conversations, but you can't send new messages. If the Soul goes public again, you can pick the conversation back up.
Q. It seems like the Soul knows what time it is?
Yes, Souls are aware of the current time. Late nights and early mornings naturally find their way into the conversation, making it feel that much more real.
